By different combinations of these video elements through transitions, action layers and programmed effects, visual sensations are created that, more often than not, appear to interact with the music. Luckily the brains thirst for creating patterns ensures many sequences appear coherent even when most elements are disjointed and miss the musical beat. Vjing allows the artist to easily create visual complexity on the screen and also take it away. Vjing can be many things but it is very good at emulating a 'buzzing head' and indulging in visual sensations. For many of my sets I provided 3d glasses and chromadepth glasses which adds to the clubbers emersion. If the video clips run too smoothly there is no tension and its difficult to find insertion points for the next sequence. Each month I worked to a theme such as '80's' or 'chromadepth transsexuals' and create video loop to add to my video library. From a filmatic point of view vjing focuses the artist on visual poetry created by juxtaposition and also valuable training on how to increase a videos visual energy with staying on the right side of tasteless.
Performances can be recorded in the computer creating them but I have never had the urge to do thing preferring each show to be fresh and lost at the end of the end of the night. Even on my fast computer I would have to be aware which where my big video clips and not run more than one of them at a time. I'm always ready to start up vjing again and with a bit of warning I could create video loops especially for the event utilising my vast store of video material.
